The session began with the party deliberating over the information they had collected. The Bro found it difficult to comprehend the reality of their circumstances, particularly the existence of fairies. During the discussion, the Bro shared a disconcerting piece of information – over the last three months, at least two dozen homeless individuals had vanished.
The team decided to divide their resources, with Jeremy and the Bro focusing on the disappearance of the homeless and exploring the paranet for more information. Jeremy’s investigations led him to an unsettling discovery; a potential civil war was brewing within the Caruso Crime Family, with the breakaway faction apparently backed by some supernatural entity. Through conversations with other homeless locals, the Bro found out about a repulsive man and woman driving a black cargo van late at night, possibly connected to the homeless disappearances.
Simultaneously, Aubert and Gigi went to investigate Eleanor “Nell” Thompson’s home. They knew from Lady Seraphina that Nell had provided the murder victims’ names. Despite Nell’s warnings and threats to call her fearsome contact, the party persisted. Aubert used a unique ring to breach the wards on Nell’s house, rushing inside to stop her from making the call. He found her contact named “The Shark” and copied the details into his own device.
Upon questioning, they discovered that Nell had a gambling problem and was in debt to Marco “The Shark” Bianchi, a loan shark. To avoid harm and clear her debt, she was coerced into giving a list of names and addresses of the local paranet members. When Nell refused to cooperate further, the team brought in Detective Sato, taking Nell to a bookshop to meet her.
Upon regrouping and meeting with Sato, the team decided to place Nell in a safe house to serve as bait. Meanwhile, the most probable next murder victim, Lisa Matthews, would unknowingly be used as bait, with a secret detail assigned to her.
Aubert proposed a theory – both sides of the Caruso Family civil war seemed to be influenced by supernatural forces, with one side linked to the Denarians, and the other side presumably associated with the paranet murderer.
As the session concluded, the team opted to pursue the lead on the revolting couple, using Gigi as bait. As anticipated, the black van appeared, and the ghastly man, identified as a ghoul by Aubert and confirmed by Gigi’s sight of a half-eaten human body inside the van, snatched Gigi. It was now 2 am, with the team having been awake for over 48 hours, they found themselves, once again, in a high-speed pursuit, trying to rescue Gigi from a pair of ravenous ghouls.
